Au Pair in America: live-in child care and cultural exchange.
What a Community Counselor Does

The Community Counselor works with the Connecticut staff should a situation arise that requires an au pair to be rematched with another host family or return to her home country. Families wishing to select a new au pair from abroad would be serviced by the Connecticut staff. Host families considering an au pair already in the U.S. would be assisted by the Community Counselor in collaboration with the Connecticut office.

Counselors are required to contact rematch au pairs and their new host families twice a month for the first two months of the rematch. These contacts may be conducted either in person or by telephone, based upon the Community Counselor's previous assessment of the au pair/host family relationship and based upon the wishes of the host family. Dates of host family contacts should be included in quarterly reports submitted to the Au Pair in America regional program manager.
